Response to Sophia’s final response
Sophia
brings up some really good valid points from her final reading of the kite
Runner. Sophia I shared the same thoughts on Amir in the beginning stages of
the novel. I thought he was truly an evil person because of how he treated
Hassan. But as I continued reading I really started to feel sorry for him.
Imagine your parents loving your servant more than you just because he
resembles the traits your mother/father have and all you wanted was to get
their attention but you weren’t able to –
I would feel terrible. Also maybe if Hassan and Amir knew that they were brother’s
maybe it would have helped greatly with them treating each other in a good
manner. One wouldn’t be jealous of the other because he would know that they bore
the same father. Sophia I also noticed that they began to form a closer
relationship in America, but that was only because Amir was the only one in his
presence. Sophia in the third paragraph you make a really good valid point
about Amir completely changing in character/personality. Like you said Sophia I
really think he was compelled to save his son because Sohrab is family and it
was also Rahim Khans dying wish and even though it involves him risking his
life he will still do it. Sophia I was also surprised when Assef was working
for the Taliban. I would have thought he would move to a better place than
Afghanistan and turn good, but he remained the same for all those years and
decided to do what he does best and inflict pain on those that he thinks
deserve it.
