I 100% agree that this book was better to read than Atlas
Shrugged. Like I stated in my own comment, it was shorter, had more emotion to
it, and although it did not have such a deep a meaning as the one represented
in Atlas Shrugged, it carried a lot of emotion and passion and make the reader
really feel what was happening in Amir’s life. I also understand why you would
say you hated Amir from the very beginning, but we do have to take into
consideration that he was only a young child when all this happened with
Hassan. He was a little young coward who loved Hassan but still had some
remorse against him for taking away some of Baba’s love, and so not getting his
hands dirty was a way (he thought at first) of make himself sort of even with
Hassan for all the extra love he had been getting from his master.
Like you said, I was also happy when I started seeing the
growing connection between Baba and Amir. It was sad to know that it was only
because Baba did not really have anyone else though. I really respected Baba at
first and he seemed like the perfect man, but I lost a bit of respect for him
when I found out about his long lasting lie and family secret. It was an
interesting plot twist though. I really enjoyed this book and I hope we read
more like it.
